Cannon McClain selected for All College Chorus

Several students from the Georgia College Choral Ensembles participated in All College Chorus, with students from across the state, Jan. 27-29, 2016.

Cannon McClain was one of the eight student participants. Each student is a member of the Max Noah Singers and was nominated to participate by Dr. Jennifer Flory, director of choral activities, who joined the students in Athens, Georgia, for the event.

Georgia College student participants:

  • Heather Kemp - Senior, music therapy major
  • Amber Woodall - Junior, music therapy major
  • Jared Etheridge - Sophomore, music major
  • Cannon McClain - Senior, music major
  • Brent Goldsmith - Sophomore, biology major
  • Tevauri Mar-Shall - Sophomore, music education major

The concert took place Friday, Jan. 29 and included selections from composers Moses Hogan, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Lars Jansson, Antonin Dvorak, and Alice Parker and Robert Shaw. These pieces range from Baroque period through romantic to spirituals up to a modern improvisatory piece.

The chorus was directed by Dr. Betsy Cook Webber, who is a professor of music and director of choral studies at the University of Houston's Moore's School of Music. She also serves as the Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus, among many other accolades.
