Cassidy Rice awarded by NFCA as Scholar-Athlete

2015 Oct 15

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently released its list of 2014-15 Scholar-Athletes for collegiate softball, placing eight Georgia College players on the list.

In order to qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA throughout the academic year. The executive director of NFCA then notifies the university's softball coach of the individual award winners.

The list of awardees returning this year includes Marisa Boyette (Marietta, Ga.), Kristen Brooks (Brunswick, Ga.), Hannah Coursey (Sugar Hill, Ga.), Holland Coursey (Sugar Hill, Ga.), Baylee Hall (Hephziba, Ga.), Abi LeRoy (Dublin, Ga.), Cassidy Rice (Du Quoin, Ill.) and Emily Robertson (Dacula, Ga.).

Brooks, LeRoy and Boyette will lead the Bobcats as seniors this year.

The Bobcats are coming off of a 47-win season and placing second in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). They return to the field in the spring with hopes to maintain their high national ranking from the previous season.
