Christopher Hofacre achieve internationally-recognized certifcations
2017 Apr 21
Christopher Hofacre completed the American Mountain Guide Association Single Pitch Instructor exam; two full days of evaluation on leadership, judgment and decision-making while guiding live clients under the microscope of seasoned AMGA climbing instructors. The Georgia College outdoor education program (ODED) has a 100 percent pass rate on this grueling credential which covers risk management, technical skill and knowledge, client care and instruction, as well as environmental impacts and response in a high angle setting.
Other ODED students this semester have earned credentials as camp directors through the American Camp Association, Canoe and kayak Instructors with the American Canoe Association, facilitator-trainers with a range of state and federal environmental education initiatives and more. Every ODED student is also required to complete medical training as a Wilderness First Responder as a part of their undergraduate work.
