Management Information Systems students place in national competition
Five management information system (MIS) students, in their first experience competing, placed sixth in the Enterprise Resource Planning Simulation (ERPsim) North American Competition, a part of the 13th ERPsim International Competition. The competition team: Tyler Maxwell, Daniel Marcus, Edward Cooper, Palmer Wilson and Jacob Wood competed against 21 other universities from North America. This included universities like Valdosta State University, University of Southern California and Universite de Sherbrooke, in Canada.

Newman Civic Scholarship Winner
Sophomore Double-Major Vivian Cassaniti Wins Newman Civic Fellowship! Cassaniti's passion for working with local communities to understand different perspectives led her to win the Newman Civic Fellowship-which selects leaders from Campus Compact member institutions who demonstrate new ways of solving civic issues. As part of the Fellowship, Cassaniti will receive national recognition from Campus Compact as well as special scholarship opportunities.

Biology and Environmental Science Students Shine at the Georgia Academy of Sciences
Fifteen students and 8 faculty from the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences attended the 99th meeting of the Georgia Academy of Sciences hosted by Valdosta State University on March 25th and 26th. The students delivered 14 research presentations and several were recognized for their work. Charleigh Stepp received the Outstanding Undergraduate Presentation Award in Biological Sciences. Christopher Horacek received the Outstanding Graduate Presentation Award in Biological Sciences. Jessy Everett received the Outstanding Graduate Presentation Award in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.

Senior psychology major Anne Elise Beals named Truman Finalist
Only 189 students, pulled from 126 institutions from across the nation, have been recognized as Truman finalists. The award recipient will receive a $30,000 scholarship for graduate school, and will become part of the larger network of Truman Scholarship alums, who are some of the highest achieving public servants in the world. Beals' passion for working with LGBTQ+ youth to prevent homelessness and incarceration and her work for the Women's Center led her to the attention of her philosophy professor, Dr. James Winchester, who suggested that she might be a good candidate for the Truman Scholarship.

Three Georgia College students named Fulbright semi-finalists
Three Georgia College seniors majoring in early childhood education, communication and art have been named Fulbright semi-finalists. They join a growing number of semi-finalists in recent years from Georgia College. If selected as finalists, their travels will take them to South Korea, Greece and Argentina. Final status should be announced no later than June. The university's 2022 Fulbright semi-finalists are: Annabelle Erb, a senior early childhood education major from Johns Creek; Anagha Ramakrishnan, a senior communication major and English minor from Marietta; and Maya Whipple a studio art major with a minor in Spanish from Gordon.

Ellen Yeudall, a senior English major, was named Georgia College's 2022 Academic Recognition Day representative. Ellen will be graduating in May with a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the Honors College, the non-fiction editor for Georgia College's literary magazine, as well as the secretary for the student honors association.
