Six Georgia College undergraduate students presented research at the 3rd Annual "Posters at the Capitol." Normally held at the Statehouse in Atlanta, this year's event was online with Georgia legislators and lobbyists in attendance. All university presidents and provosts in Georgia were invited, as well.

Two Georgia College students have been selected to participate in summer research internships funded through a partnership by Fulbright Canada and MITACS Globalink. Junior physics major Catherine Boyd and junior biology major Molly Bullington will undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks under the supervision of faculty at Canadian institutions.

The 12th annual Margaret Harvin Wilson Writing Awards virtual ceremony was held on March 25. Out of 50 submissions, six finalists were selected from two different writing categories-poetry and short story. First-year and sophomore finalists include: Madeline Teigen of Evans, Georgia (first place), Olivia McClure of Decatur, Georgia (second place) and Jaylon Brooks of Augusta, Georgia (third place). Junior and senior finalists include: William "Tanner" Howard of Toccoa, Georgia (first place), Jacob Dallas of Sharpsburg, Georgia (second place) and Chloe McDargh of Augusta, Georgia (third place).

Savannah Taylor, a junior double-major in Economics and World Language and Culture, named one of Campus Compact's 290 students making up the 2021-2022 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows.

For 24 years, The GIVE Center has helped connect students to volunteer opportunities and the Milledgeville community-creating a legacy of giving and philanthropy. The class of 2021 has made its impact on Milledgeville, with several students exceeding 1,000 volunteer service hours.

Friday, April 9, 2020, was the final round of the 18th semester of the Georgia College Elevator Pitch Competition. The first round was held on March 16 and 17. This semester's sponsors were GEICO and TTi. Like last semester, the competition was held virtually. In the first round, twelve classes participated and 363 students competed. Five faculty prepared the students who represented all majors in the college of business and included sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Dr. Renee Fontenot, Professor of Marketing coordinates this semi-annual event Business professionals and recruiters are judges in the first round. This semester, there were 244 requests for introductions to students from recruiters from across 16 companies for potential internship or career positions. Two students on Georgia College Mock Trial team won awards for "Outstanding Attorney" and another for "Outstanding Witness" at a three-day regional tournament hosted online in February by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA).

On Friday, October 23rd six of the Learning Center's staff presented at the Georgia Tutoring Association's (GaTA) annual conference.

WGUR and Jonathan O'Brien placed second in the category "Best Newscast" this year at the 2020 National Student Electronic Media Convention and this year it was held virtually.

The Student Ambassadors for 2020-2021 have been selected. The ambassador team positively promotes Georgia College and its public liberal arts mission by serving as a vital link between the university's student body, prospective students, their families, staff, alumni and friends. The students receiving this achievement are those that are new to the student ambassador team!

Two students from GC will be competing this month at the International Collegiate Sales Competition(ICSC). This competition is hosted by the FSU Sales Institue in Orlando, FL, but this year they will be competition virtual.
