Fifteen seniors have been named valedictorians for the May/August 2021 graduating class.

The student body elected a new Student Government Association executive board during the Spring 2021 semester.

Six Georgia College undergraduate students presented research at the 3rd Annual "Posters at the Capitol." Normally held at the Statehouse in Atlanta, this year's event was online with Georgia legislators and lobbyists in attendance. All university presidents and provosts in Georgia were invited, as well.

Two Georgia College students have been selected to participate in summer research internships funded through a partnership by Fulbright Canada and MITACS Globalink. Junior physics major Catherine Boyd and junior biology major Molly Bullington will undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks under the supervision of faculty at Canadian institutions.

The 12th annual Margaret Harvin Wilson Writing Awards virtual ceremony was held on March 25. Out of 50 submissions, six finalists were selected from two different writing categories-poetry and short story. First-year and sophomore finalists include: Madeline Teigen of Evans, Georgia (first place), Olivia McClure of Decatur, Georgia (second place) and Jaylon Brooks of Augusta, Georgia (third place). Junior and senior finalists include: William "Tanner" Howard of Toccoa, Georgia (first place), Jacob Dallas of Sharpsburg, Georgia (second place) and Chloe McDargh of Augusta, Georgia (third place).

Savannah Taylor, a junior double-major in Economics and World Language and Culture, named one of Campus Compact's 290 students making up the 2021-2022 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows.

For 24 years, The GIVE Center has helped connect students to volunteer opportunities and the Milledgeville community-creating a legacy of giving and philanthropy. The class of 2021 has made its impact on Milledgeville, with several students exceeding 1,000 volunteer service hours.
