The 2014 Georgia College Student Research Conference, held in April, gave students the opportunity to present any scholarly or creative activity ranging from scientific experimentation, to service-learning, literary criticism, case-study design and artistic expression. Students from all disciplines were invited to submit their work to be showcased at the GC Student Research events.

Student receieves the opportunity of a lifetime to study alongside some of the leaders in the field of high-energy particle physics at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Switzerland.

Three students were named as the national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa's Emerging Leader of the Year. Freshman and sophomores are nominated by faculty, staff or other student leaders for serving as a role model on campus, maintaining good academic standing and making a positive impact on the campus community.

After three years of research on how plants respond to their environment, Anne Zimmerman has been recognized among the top science students in the country, landing the prestigious honor of being a part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program.

The College of Health Sciences held its Honors Ceremony and reception March 28 where students were recognized for outstanding academic work.

Georgia College students presented their research at the annual American Chemical Society's national meeting. Held in Dallas, the conference focused on chemistry and materials for energy. Several students were also featured in the publication "Chemical & Engineering News" based on their work.

Three students won prize money by placing in the Elevator Pitch Competition, which was hosted by the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business. The competition involved creating a 60 second video of senior business majors delivering their elevator pitch to a potential employer.

Georgia College's Student Government Association (SGA) serves the campus community by addressing student concerns, promoting understanding within the college community and administering all matters which are delegated to the student government by the university president. All officers and senators are elected on a yearly basis.

The Margaret Harvin Wilson Writing Award offers undergraduate students cash prizes, a certificate of achievement and recognition at a public ceremony as a celebration of excellence in writing.
