The student body elected a new Student Government Association executive board. The winners were announced after the Homecoming basketball game on Feb. 6.

Georgia College crowns royalty, naming the 2016 Homecoming King, Queen, Duke and Duchess.

Several students from the Georgia College Choral Ensembles participated in All College Chorus, with students from across the state, Jan. 27-29, 2016. The eight students are members of the Max Noah Singers and were nominated to participate by Dr. Jennifer Flory, director of choral activities, who joined the students in Athens, Georgia, for the event.

Georgia College Soccer senior Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, California) has been named a semi-finalist for the renowned Coach Wooden Citizens Cup Award, one of three student-athletes chosen from Division II ranks.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its Division II Women's Soccer All-Region teams recently, with Georgia Colleges Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir (Gardabaer, Iceland) earning a spot on the All-Southeast Region Third Team.

Two Georgia College students were named the first Scholars of Distinction from a group of four finalists. The program recognizes students for their creation and implementation of impact projects that serve the Baldwin and Milledgeville communities. Senior Political Science major Abigail Stout partnered with Oak Hill Middle School in Milledgeville to create a student council, which aims to influence students to become leaders and a positive influence among their peers. Graduate student Sarah Kukshtel, who is in the special education degree program, began the first Unified Physical Education program at Baldwin County High School, which was created to help students develop attitudes of leadership that foster respect and acceptance among students of all ability levels.

The Georgia College J. Whitney Bunting College of Business awarded cash and prizes to students who placed in the Elevator Pitch Competition.

The Margaret Harvin Wilson Writing Award offers undergraduate students cash prizes, a certificate of achievement and recognition at a public ceremony as a celebration of excellence in writing.

This summer GC Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) Student Chapter was invited to MathFest 2015, held in Washington D.C., to present a poster to showcase their activities.

Four student are part of the first class of Call Me MISTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role models) students at Georgia College. The new program aims to increase the pool of available teachers from a broader and more diverse background. Program Director Emmanuel Little says the program is integral to the changing world of education.

GC360, Georgia College's student-run television newscast, has chosen seven students to serve as news, entertainment and sports anchors for the fall 2015 semester.

ENGAGE Fellows will serve as mentors to others developing community projects and as advisors to ENGAGE as the program continues to grow.

Georgia College's Student Government Association (SGA) serves the campus community by addressing student concerns, promoting understanding within the college community and administering all matters which are delegated to the student government by the university president. All officers and senators are elected on a yearly basis.

Two students are venturing to Washington, D.C. as part of the Georgia College in Washington (GC in DC) program.

Student Ambassadors for 2015-2016 have been selected. The ambassador team positively promotes Georgia College and its public liberal arts mission by serving as a vital link between the university's student body, prospective students, their families, staff, alumni and friends.

On Friday, July 17, 2015, the newest Georgia College students and their families will attend New Student Orientation. Orientation is a day-long program that offers new students and transfer students the opportunity to establish a link with faculty in their intended major, become familiar with the campus and the array of academic and campus life programs available and "take care of business" to prepare for move-in.
