Welcome home, Bobcat! On Friday, June 9, 2017, Georgia College welcomes the newest Georgia College students and their families to campus as they attend New Student Orientation. Orientation is a day-long program packed with opportunities for new students and transfer students to connect with faculty in their intended major and become familiar with the campus as well as the array of academic and campus life programs available. Orientation grants new members of the Bobcat family to "take care of business" as they prepare for move-in.

Valedictorians earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages during all of their undergraduate coursework. These students earned the distinction from Georgia College's May 2017 graduating class.

Two students were selected to speak at the May 2017 undergraduate commencement ceremonies. Mass communication major and Camille Tracy and biology major Maria Boff were chosen to give a speech.

During the spring 2017 Music Major awards ceremony, students received awards for scholarships.

On Friday April 28, 2017, in the Max Noah Recital Hall, GC students received outstanding major awards for research and academic achievements.

Five seniors were recognized as Shining Stars in the mass communication department. They have maintained outstanding academic records while contributing both to the mass communication department and to other student organizations.

In April 2017, the English and Rhetoric department held an ice cream social where GC students received outstanding major awards in the department.

The Mass Communication Outstanding Major is chosen based on criteria including GPA and extracurricular involvement, but most importantly on the student's overall commitment and contribution to the mass comm major.

Laura Pappas was recognized by Campus Compact as a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow.

The "winningest intramural player of all time" - that's what ImLeagues, a website that tracks college intramurals, calls Georgia College senior Nathan Vickroy. The nation's top achiever for rec sports, Vickroy won at least 46 championships and just beat his own record, raising total wins in a semester from 117 last fall to 122 so far this spring.

The Cat's Meow, Georgia College's 12-member curricular contemporary a cappella pop ensemble, was invited to sing in a group masterclass and an exhibition performance at the National A Cappella Convention on April 22, 2017.

The Giving Tree Award, which is given by the GIVE Center each year to only one student, is an honor presented on Earth Day for a student who has left an impact on campus. The GIVE Center plants a tree dedicated to the person, which leaves a lasting legacy. This year, Natalie Flanders has been honored with this award.

The GIVE Center released its list of Georgia College's top 20 volunteers for the 2016-2017 school year. The list is comprised of the 20 students with the most registered service hours for this academic year.

The top male and female volunteers through The GIVE Center were honored with Bobcat Awards. The students received the award for completing the most volunteers hours for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The GIVE Center recognized 17 Starfish Graduate.

Georgia College will recognize its students for the hundreds of volunteer hours they have dedicated this year to helping the community.

Student's works have been published in "The Peacocks Feet," Georgia College's undergraduate journal for literary and artistic talents.

The College of Health Sciences held its annual awards ceremony in April where students were recognized for their achievements in their respective major within the health sciences field.

At the Association for Information Systems Student Chapter Leadership Conference held at the Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, students in the Georgia College AIS student chapter competed in the AmerisourceBergen Analytics competition.

Two more outdoor education students earned credentials as climbing instructers in March 2017.

Senior music therapy students received awards at the Southeastern Region: American Music Therapy Association Annual Conference in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Southeastern Region includes nine states and 18 university music therapy programs.

Several students were recognized for their achievements by the Georgia College Department of Psychological Sciences at the spring 2017 Psychology Recognition Reception.
