Georgia College's Student Government Association (SGA) serves the campus community by addressing student concerns, promoting understanding within the college community and administering all matters which are delegated to the student government by the university president. Senators are elected on a yearly basis.

Every year, students from GC participate in a program called GC in Washington (GC in DC). This internship is a great way for students to learn and apply professional skills in a great setting.

Nearly 100 students received course credit through study abroad experiences during the 2018 Spring and Summer semesters.

Several students have recently been named National Daily Points of Light Recipients. The Daily Point of Light Award celebrates the power of the individual to spark change and improve the world.

The GIVE Center announced the recipients of the Gold Level Presidential Service Award. This list is comprised of students who completed more than 250 service hours during 2017-2018.

The annual Bobcat Awards took place April 3, 2018 in Magnolia Ballroom. These awards recognize student organizations, student leaders and community partners.

The John H. Lounsbury College of Education hosted it's annual spring award cermeony in May. Students received awards for their outstanding work within their program.

The Department of English recognized outstanding majors at a reception on April 25.

Valedictorians earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages during all of their undergraduate coursework. These students earned this impressive distinction from Georgia College's May 2018 graduating class.

Jonathan Mangrum is Georgia College's first David L. Boren Scholar-a prestigious award that will enable him to spend his fall 2018 semester learning Urdu in Lucknow, India. There, the junior economics and political science major will gain a cultural perspective while staying with a host family, but first, he will develop his skills through intensive study of the language at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Janileyah Thompson was recently named a finalist for a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. The December 2017 graduate will teach and serve as an American cultural ambassador in South Korea.

Several students were recognized for their achievements by the Georgia College Department of Mathematics at the spring 2018 Mathematics Recognition Reception.
